Tickets are now available for Eclipsed, starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o in her Broadway debut. The production is scheduled to begin previews at the Golden Theatre on February 23, 2016 and will play a limited engagement through June 19. Opening night is set for March 6.
The play, written by Danai Gurira and directed by Liesl Tommy, is currently running at off-Broadway’s Public Theater through November 29.
Amid the chaos of the Liberian Civil War, the captive wives of a rebel officer band together to form a fragile community—until the balance of their lives is upset by the arrival of a new girl. Drawing on reserves of wit and compassion, Eclipsed reveals distinct women who must discover their own means of survival in this deeply felt portrait of women finding and testing their own strength in a hostile world of horrors not of their own making.
Complete casting for the Broadway engagement will be announced shortly. In addition to N’Yongo, the Public Theater cast currently includes Stacey Sargeant (who stepped in for Saycon Sengbloh), Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia and Zainab Jah.
