Max Von Essen & More Set for The Secret Garden
This two-night event will certainly brighten up January! Max von Essen (An American in Paris), Tamika Lawrence (The Wiz LIVE!), Rebecca Luker (Mary Poppins), Gabriella Pizzolo (Fun Home), Eli Tokash (Finding Neverland) and more will appear in The Secret Garden. The shows are scheduled to take place at off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theater on January 11, 2016 and January 17, and will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and Western New York.
Nona Hendryx to Lead Parallel Lives
Revolutionary art-rock, new wave goddess Nona Hendryx will direct and star in Parallel Lives, which is set to perform two shows on November 29 at Joe’s Pub. Also featuring an international roster of contemporary vocalists, the production is a global celebration of Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf, two women born in the same year on different shores.
Obama & Dick Cheney Form Hamilton Fan Club
President Barack Obama stopped by the Richard Rodgers Theatre (again!) on November 2, where Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton is currently in residence. It was all in aid of a Democratic National Committee fundraiser, for which Variety reports attendees paid as much as $5,000 to check out a special Monday night performance of the tuner, before the President turned up and took the stage. “I am annoyed that I did not get to see this show again. Michelle and I love this show. It also happens to be the only thing Dick Cheney and I agree on...that is a cultural landmark.”
Check Out Gabriella Pizzolo's 'Ring of Keys'
The previously Odds & Ends mentioned Gabriella Pizzolo recently stepped in as Small Alison in Fun Home for Tony nominee Sydney Lucas. Pizzolo had big shoes to fill, and from her recent performance of "Ring of Keys" at the 20th Anniversary SAGE Awards and Gala, it's clear that she's made the role her own! Check out the video below and then the Tony-winning tuner at Circle in the Square.
