Every year, The New York Landmarks Conservancy takes a break from protecting New York City's vibrant neighborhoods and buildings for one night to shine a spotlight on special New Yorkers at their "Living Landmarks" gala. This year, two Broadway stalwarts were among the honorees: longtime Shubert Organization leaders Philip J. Smith and Robert E. Wankel. In the hot shot above, Wankel hits the red carpet with presenters Bernadette Peters and Joel Grey. Other honorees were Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone, business executives and philanthropists Brooke Garber Neidich and Daniel Neidich, New York Stem Cell Foundation pioneer Susan L. Solomon and Bard Graduate Center founder Dr. Susan Weber. Also on hand was Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, who performed for the starry crowd at The Plaza. The event raised a record $1.4 million for the vital nonprofit organization. Congrats to all!
