The 61st annual London Evening Standard Theatre Awards took place on November 22, with the Tony-winning Kinky Boots taking home the award for Best Musical. Nicole Kidman and Imelda Staunton won for their respective performances in Photograph 51 and Gypsy, with at least one of them already eyeing a move to the Great White Way and beyond. The U.K. premiere of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Motherf**ker with the Hat won Best Play, and James McAvoy of The Ruling Class took home the award for Best Actor. In addition, special honors were given to the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exibit (Beyond Theatre), Vanessa Redgrave (Editor’s Award) and Stephen Sondheim (Lebedev Award).
