As previously speculated, the 70th annual Tony Awards will be held at the Beacon Theatre. However, Broadway fans will have to wait a week longer than usual to see who picks up the spinning medallions. The ceremony will now take place on June 12, 2016, as opposed to the previously announced June 5.
The ceremony’s typical venue of choice, Radio City Music Hall, will host the Rockettes for the New York Spectacular at that time. The Tonys previously played the Beacon in 2011 and 2012.
Because of the date change, the eligibility cut-off date for nominations will now be April 28 (instead of the 26th). The nominations for the 2016 Tony Awards will be announced live on May 3 from the Paramount Hotel in New York.
