Release Date Set for The Wiz Live! Soundtrack
We’re sure plans for your viewing party on December 3 are in full swing and now there's even more to look forward to from The Wiz Live! team! The original soundtrack of the NBC Television event will drop digitally on December 11 and land in stores on December 18, courtesy of Sony Music Masterworks and Broadway Records; it’s also available for preorder right now. We can’t wait to ease on down the road with Shanice Williams, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, NE-YO, Uzo Aduba and so many more!
Cynthia Nixon is Motherstruck! (Again)
More good off-Broadway news for Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon. After her recent directorial project, Steve, extended, it’s been announced that the previously canceled MotherStruck! is back on. Nixon had been set to helm the Staceyann Chin vehicle before the world premiere was recently—and abruptly—postponed. Producers, including Rosie O’Donnell, have now confirmed that MotherStruck! will begin performances on December 4 at Culture Project’s Lynn Redgrave Theater, with opening night set for December 14.
Mighty Real Aiming for Broadway
Get ready to funk…on Broadway? Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical, which recently ran off-Broadway, is eyeing a move to the Main Stem. A Kickstarter page has been established for the project, which features music by the legendary performer and a book by Anthony Wayne. We will keep you posted!
