There are many traditions on Thanksgiving weekend: turkey and stuffing, parades, artfully avoiding hot topics at the table and Broadway box offices doing gangbusters. Aladdin broke the house record for the ninth time at the New Amsterdam Theatre, grossing $2,048,248. It sat comfortably in the top five with perennial favorites The Lion King, Wicked, Hamilton and The Book of Mormon (a couple of which played nine performances). Meanwhile, the School of Rock played the palatial Winter Garden Theatre at nearly 100% capacity and finished its third week of previews as a new member of the Millionaire’s Club at $1,304,251. The new revival of Fiddler on the Roof also finished its first full week of previews with seven figures at $1,221,716.
