Spend Christmas With Adam Jacobs
It’s a whole new world for Aladdin’s current headliner Adam Jacobs. The Broadway fave’s debut solo album, Right Where I Belong, featuring a compilation of songs by Tony and Oscar winner (and Aladdin scribe) Alan Menken, will drop on December 13. Numbers covered include "Go The Distance" (Hercules), "Santa Fe" (Newsies), and "Suddenly Seymour" (Little Shop of Horrors, in duet with Jacobs’ sister Arielle Jacobs). Music direction and arrangements for the album were provided by James Abbott. The perfect stocking stuffer for any discerning Main Stem fan!
Real Men to Depart Off-Broadway
Real Men: The Musical, Nick Santa Maria’s off-Broadway tuner about men juggling their balls every day, will close prematurely on December 12; the production had been set to run through January 2, 2016 at New World Stages. Directed by David Arisco, the 90-minute romp will officially open on December 10. Anika Noni Rose & Forest Whitaker Set for Roots
Stage fave Anika Noni Rose, the Broadway-bound Forest Whitaker and more, will join the previously reported Tony and Emmy winner Laurence Fishburne in a remake of Roots. According to TV Line, names additionally boarding the A+E Networks’ event series include Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Mekhi Phifer and James Purefoy. The adaptation of Alex Haley’s 1976 novel and reinterpretation of ABC’s 1977 miniseries follows the history of an African slave sold to America and his descendants. Roots will bow next year.
Oona Laurence's New Trailer
Former Matilda star Oona Laurence's career continues to hit new heights. After the honorary Tony winner's big starring role opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Southpaw, comes the below trailer for her next project, Ross Partridge's Lamb. Based on the novel by Bonnie Nadzam, the road trip film premiered at SXSW 2015 and will open theatrically in the Big Apple and Los Angeles on January 8, 2016, followed by VOD on January 12.
