Broderick's B'way Surprise
Tony winners Matthew Broderick and Annaleigh Ashford are currently headlining Broadway's Sylvia, and the pair stopped by The Today Show on December 17 to chat about playing a man and his best friend. Broderick was somewhat taken aback when the hosts informed him that the production was his twelfth on the Main Stem, but with his usual deadpan demeanor remarked his frequent appearances were only because it gave him "something to do." Jimmy Buffett Tuner In The Works
Looks like Parrotheads will be able to experience Margaritaville at the theater!?! A new musical featuring the songs and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett is being developed for the stage. Directed by Christopher Ashley, with an original story by co-book writers Greg Garcia and Mike O’Malley, a world premiere production is expected to bow in 2017.
Becoming Mike Nichols to Air on HBO
Mark your calendars—Becoming Mike Nichols, an intimate documentary portrait of the legendary director in his final filmed appearance, will debut on February 22, 2016 on HBO after making its world premiere at Sundance. Taped just four months before the beloved EGOT winner died, Nichols opened up to his close friend and colleague, fellow theater director Jack O’Brien, about the storied beginnings of his career, including his comedy collaboration with Elaine May, his direction of two Neil Simon stage classics, as well as his acclaimed feature-film debut, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and its follow-up, The Graduate. Definitely not one to be missed.
