Next stop the Great White Way? Broadway faves Richard H. Blake, Jason Gotay, Nick Cordero and more have been tapped for A Bronx Tale: The Musical at Paper Mill Playhouse. Co-directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks, the previously announced production will feature choreography by Sergio Trujillo, a book by Chazz Palminteri, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater. The show is scheduled to play a limited engagement at the New Jersey venue February 4, 2016 through March 6. Opening night is set for February 14.
Along with Blake (Jersey Boys) as Lorenzo, Gotay (Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark) as Calogero and Tony nominee Cordero (Bullets Over Broadway) as Sonny, the cast will include Joshua Colley (Les Misérables), as Young Calogero, Coco Jones (Let It Shine) as Jane and Lucia Giannetta (Les Misérables) as Rosina.
Based on the real life story by Chazz Palminteri‚ A Bronx Tale: The Musical is set against the backdrop of racial strife and organized crime in the 1960s. It is the story of an Italian-American teenager finding his path in life as he must choose between the father who raised him and a mob-boss father figure who fascinates him.
Rounding out the company will be Gilbert L.
