The Marvelous Wonderettes are returning off-Broadway! Christina Bianco and Kathy Brier will lead the cast at New York’s Theatre Row this spring. Tickets are now on sale for the production, which will begin previews on March 23, 2016 and officially open on April 28 at the Kirk Theatre.
Bianco’s diva impression videos have garnered over 21 million views worldwide; theater credits include Application Pending. Brier made her Broadway debut in Hairspray and has also been seen on stage in Bat Boy The Musical; she is known for her role as Marcie Walsh McBain on ABC's One Life to Live, for which she received an Emmy nod.
The Marvelous Wonderettes takes a cotton-candied colored musical trip down memory lane to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet The Wonderettes: four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. The show follows their lives and loves from prom night to their 10-year reunion. The score highlights over 20 chart-topping hits of the era, including “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me” and “It’s My Party.”
Created, written, and originally directed by Roger Bean, the previous New York production played at the Westside Theatre from September 2008 to January 2010.
Further casting and creative team will be announced later.
