Victoria Clark, Kelli O'Hara, Matthew Morrison & More Set for The Light in the Piazza Reunion Concert

Statues, stories, and a particularly windborne hat will return to Lincoln Center for one night only. Kelli O’Hara, Victoria Clark, Matthew Morrison and more are set to appear at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre on April 4 for a concert presentation of The Light in the Piazza, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas musical’s Broadway bow.

The trio reunites for the benefit performance after headlining the original Bartlett Sher production. Since then, O’Hara has returned to the Beaumont twice and won a Tony for her current performance in The King and I, Clark earned nominations for Sister Act, Cinderella and Gigi, and Morrison recently concluded his run in Finding Neverland.

Several members of the original Broadway cast—including Patti Cohenour, Michael Berresse, Sarah Uriarte Berry, Mark Harelik, Felicity LaFortune and Joseph Siravo—will also take the stage for the special event.

Based on the 1960 novella by Elizabeth Spencer (which in turn inspired the 1962 film adaptation), The Light in the Piazza follows Margaret (Clark) and Clara (O’Hara), a mother and daughter from North Carolina who travel to Florence. Clara quickly falls in love with Fabrizio (Morrison), a young Italian man. As their relationship blossoms, Margaret must cope with letting go of both her daughter and a dark family secret (involving a Shetland pony).

The Light in the Piazza opened at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre on April 18, 2005. That June, the musical won six Tony Awards, including Best Score for Guettel and Best Actress in a Musical for Clark. The show marked the beginning of O’Hara’s relationship with Sher and Lincoln Center, as well as her first Tony nomination.
