You know that feeling when your mother tells you an absolutely bonkers story and you don’t know how to respond except by screaming? Now imagine that, but your mother is Linda Lavin in a fabulous autumnal scarf. That’s exactly the case in Richard Greenberg’s Our Mother’s Brief Affair. The show, directed by Lynne Meadow, opens officially at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on January 20.
To commemorate the Manhattan Theatre Club production’s big night, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson sketched this portrait of the cast. In addition to Lavin as titular mother Anna, it features Kate Arrington as Abby, Greg Keller as Seth and John Procaccino as the mysterious Lover/Abe.
Broadway.com wishes a happy opening night to the cast of Our Mother’s Brief Affair! May it be one to remember!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
