CBS hit drama The Good Wife has become known for tapping Great White Way faves as guest stars, and showrunners Michelle and Robert King recently revealed to The Hollywood Reporter some fascinating tidbits about the casting process. Apparently they had to “educate CBS people” on who Broadway alum Cush Jumbo was, and while although they longed to bring back Linda Emond as a military judge, they couldn’t make the storylines work. Who's on their wish list? "Every single person in Hamilton.” Naturally!
Shonda Rhimes' Romeo and Juliet Sequel
Ever wondered what happened to the Montagues and Capulets after Romeo and Juliet met their tragic ends? Well, ABC has ordered a pilot of Still Star-Crossed, which looks into precisely that, and since it's from mega-producer Shonda Rhimes, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find out on a TV screen near you soon! Based on Melinda Taub’s book of the same name, Variety reports that the period drama will pick up where Shakespeare’s classic left off.
Kyle Dean Massey to Headline Broadway Unlocked
Stage and screen fave Kyle Dean Massey, along with other outstanding writers, performers and digital creators from Broadway, television, film and other mediums, will come together on February 22 for the Broadway Unlocked #giveback concert. The interactive, live-streamed benefit event is set to take place place at WNYC / New York Public Radio’s The Greene Space and will celebrate the work of the Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC) of Mt. Sinai West/St. Luke’s Hospital.
Casting Set for Glenn Close-Led Sunset
It’s as if we never said goodbye! Michael Xavier will play Joe Gillis, with Siobhan Dillon as Betty Shaefer and Fred Johanson as Max Von Mayerling in Sunset Boulevard, starring the previously announced Glenn Close. Directed by Lonny Price, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, the Tony-winning tuner will begin a limited engagement at English National Opera’s London Coliseum on April 1.
