Broadway favorites Jonathan Groff, Laura Osnes, Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy and more have been tapped for the New York Pops’ 34th season at Carnegie Hall. Under the musical direction of Steven Reineke, the 2016-17 program will celebrate the diversity of some of popular music’s greatest icons.
Kicking off proceedings on October 14 will be Laura Osnes, Colin Donnell and Nathan Gunn with The Musical World of Lerner and Loewe. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of My Fair Lady, expect highlights from the legendary songwriting team’s collaborations including classic numbers from Camelot, Brigadoon, Gigi and Paint Your Wagon. This will be followed by Concert for Courage on November 11.
Make the Season Bright is scheduled for December 16, with Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway, Anthony Nunziata, Will Nunziata and Essential Voices USA ringing in the holidays. And in celebration of John Kander’s 90th birthday, Joshua Henry and Caissie Levy will lead Life is a Cabaret: The Songs of Kander and Ebb on March 10, 2017.
The final concert of the season is set to be headlined by Groff and Adrienne Warren on April 21. You’ve Got a Friend: A Celebration of Singers and Songwriters will pay tribute to the soundtrack of a generation, inspired by the music of James Taylor, Carole King and more.
Sounds like some kind of wonderful to us!
