A starry lineup of Broadway favorites and Saturday Night Live veterans have been tapped to pay tribute to television legend Lorne Michaels on February 11. Tina Fey and her husband, composer Jeff Richmond, will write and direct a celebration of the SNL producer’s career as part of Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Gala. Audra McDonald, Jane Krakowski and more are on board to perform.
Six-time Tony winner McDonald will take part in the festivities before starring in Shuffle Along, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed. 30 Rock vet Krakowski will also appear on Broadway this spring in She Loves Me. Additional names tapped for the lineup include two Broadway alums who appeared in 30 Rock: Emmy nominee Tituss Burgess and Cheyenne Jackson, as well as an assortment of favorites from SNL and beyond: Jimmy Fallon, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short and Taran Killam.
Fey and Richmond also have another composing project in the works: a musical adaptation of Mean Girls. Unlike “fetch,” it looks like the show’s still going to happen, although we could use another status update. Last March, the two revealed they were about “60% done” with the script and that readings were on the horizon.
