Colby Minifie will round out the starry cast of the upcoming Broadway revival of Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night. She joins a lineup that includes Jessica Lange, Gabriel Byrne, John Gallagher Jr. and Michael Shannon. Performances will begin on April 3 (instead of the previously announced March 31) at the American Airlines Theatre; opening night is set for April 27.
Minifie, who will play Cathleen, returns to the Broadway stage after making her debut in The Pillowman. Her off-Broadway credits include Punk Rock, Close Up Space, Landscape of the Body and The Dark at the Top of the Stairs. She can be seen on screen in the upcoming films Blue Angel and Don’t Think Twice, as well as Jessica Jones, Deep Powder, and Camilla Dickinson.
The Roundabout production, directed by Jonathan Kent, is scheduled to run through June 26. It will feature set design by Tom Pye, costumes by Jane Greenwood, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Clive Goodwin.
Long Day’s Journey Into Night is the tale of an ordinary summer’s day with extraordinary consequences. Drawing heavily from the author’s personal history, the story centers on the Tyrones: a dysfunctional family with a drug-addicted mother, penny-pinching father and two troubled sons.
