This is some lineup! Tony winner Nathan Lane, EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg, Patrick Wilson and more have been tapped for White Rabbit Red Rabbit. Tickets are now available to Nassim Soleimanpour’s play, which will make its New York Premiere in a limited engagement playing Monday nights at off-Broadway's Westside Theatre from March 7.
No rehearsal. No director. No set. No spoilers. A different performer each night is handed the script for the first time as they step onto the stage. The rotating cast will each perform the show once.
Lane is set to appear on March 7, Goldberg on March 14 and Wilson on March 21, along with Brian Dennehy on March 28 and Mike Birbiglia on April 11. Other artists tapped on dates soon to be announced (pending availability) include Tony winner Christine Baranski; Tony Winner Alan Cumming, Ramin Karimloo, Tony winner Andrea Martin, Marin Mazzie, Tony winner Donna Murphy, Tony winner Cynthia Nixon, Tony winner David Hyde Pierce, Tony winner Martin Short and Allegiance’s George Takei. Additional casting will be announced later.
Forbidden to leave his country, young Iranian playwright Soleimanpour found a way for his voice to get out when he physically could not—distilling the experience of his isolation in a non-traditional new play. The show had its world premiere in 2011 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has since been translated into fifteen different languages and performed over 200 times worldwide. A portion of the play’s profits will go to PEN International, the world’s leading association of writers working to promote literature and defend freedom of expression around the world.
