Jeff Daniels and Michelle Williams will officially open in the much-buzzed about Blackbird on February 5. Directed by Joe Mantello, the limited engagement of the 2005 drama by Scottish playwright David Harrower is scheduled to run through June 12 at the Belasco Theatre.
To celebrate the Main Stem premiere of the two-hander, which explores the repercussions of an illegal sexual affair, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson penned this sketch. There's Daniels as Ray and Williams as Una as they confront their dark past.
Broadway.com wishes the Blackbird team a happy opening.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
