Three-time Emmy winner Mia Michaels has been tapped to direct and choreograph the previously reported New York Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes. Douglas Carter Beane will pen the show, which will run at Radio City Music Hall from June 15 through August 7.
New York Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes celebrates New York City in the summertime centered around the trip of a lifetime for two kids, who, while on a vacation in New York, are separated from their parents. The city magically comes to life to show them its many splendid wonders and helps to reunite their family in the end.
Best known for her work on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, Michaels served as choreographer of “Welcome to New York,” the opening number of 2015’s New York Spring Spectacular and to Finding Neverland. Beane was Tony nominated for his work on Xanadu, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Lysistrata Jones, Sister Act and The Little Dog Laughed.
The production will feature lighting design by Alain Lortie and video design by Moment Factory.
