Hamilton's Brian d’Arcy James & Anthony Ramos Reunite
Something Rotten!’s Brian d’Arcy James will return to the Public Theater with Hamilton costar Anthony Ramos to tackle Kevin Gilbert's concept album Shaming of the True. Also starring Daniel Breaker and directed by Kate Whoriskey, the rock opera, which examines an artist’s need for evolution, cultural influence and agency in these uncertain times, will be performed at Joe’s Pub on April 18. "We've always had an instinct that it would be a vibrant, exciting theatrical experience," said d’Arcy James. "We are really excited to be putting on this concert for the first time...and look forward to where this journey takes us."
Woody Allen Taps Broadway Alums
Broadway faves Becky Ann Baker and Christine Ebersole have boarded Woody Allen’s untitled six-episode series for Amazon. Starring Miley Cyrus, Elaine May, Joy Behar, Lewis Black and more, Deadline reports that the show is set to premiere later this year. It's currently filming in New York, because of course it is.
Runaways Open Call Details
We now have more information about the open call for Encores! Off-Center’s upcoming production of Runaways. The audition for teen actors (aged 13-18) will take place on March 19 at Talent Unlimited High School (317 East 67th Street). Directed by Sam Pinkleton, Elizabeth Swados’ landmark 1978 tuner about the stories, fears, and fantasies of young people living on the streets will play a limited engagement July 6 though July 9 at New York City Center.
