Bluegrass on Broadway: Steve Martin & Edie Brickell’s Bright Star Opens on Broadway

Shine on! Bright Star, the new musical by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, opens officially at the Cort Theatre on March 24. The production, directed by Walter Bobbie, stars Carmen Cusack in her Broadway debut, plus Paul Alexander Nolan and A.J. Shively. In commemoration of the musical’s big night, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson created this sketch of the cast in action.

In addition to Cusack, Nolan and Shively as Alice Murphy, Jimmy Ray Dobbs and Billy Cane, respectively, the portrait features Hannah Elless as Margo Crawford, Michael Mulheren as Mayor Josiah Dobbs, Stephen Lee Anderson as Daddy Murphy, Dee Hoty as Mama Murphy, Stephen Bogardus as Daddy Cane, Emily Padgett as Lucy Grant and Jeff Blumenkrantz as Daryl Ames.
