Alfie Boe's world has been turned upside down! The Brit will begin performances in the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award-winning tuner Finding Neverland on March 29 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. He steps in as J.M. Barrie for Tony Yazbeck, who played his final performance on March 27.
Boe concluded his Broadway turn as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables on February 28. He made his Main Stem debut as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann’s La Boheme, for which he and his co-stars received a special Tony Award in 2003. He played the role of Valjean in the 25th Anniversary Concert at London’s O2 Arena in October 2010 and went on to lead the original West End production of the show. His live opera appearances include The Pearl Fishers at the English National Opera and Romeo ET Juliette at the Royal Opera House.
Directed by Diane Paulus and featuring a score by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy and a book by James Graham, Finding Neverland follows the story of J.M. Barrie and his relationship with the family of widow Sylvia Llewelyn Davies. Llewelyn Davies' children eventually became Barrie's inspiration to write Peter Pan.
The cast also currently includes Kelsey Grammer (through April 3), Laura Michelle Kelly, Teal Wicks and Sally Ann Triplett (through May 1).
Following his Great White Way stint, Boe may headline the potential 2017 West End transfer, alongside original Broadway cast member Grammer.
