Duncan Macmillan's People, Places and Things, Starring Denise Gough, Eyes Broadway Transfer

In recent years Curious Incident and War Horse bowed at the U.K.'s National Theatre before landing in the West End followed by Broadway, and now it looks like People, Places and Things will tread the same path. Duncan Macmillan’s new play, which started out at the NT’s Dorfman Theatre and is currently running at the Wyndham’s Theatre through June 18, is eyeing a Main Stem bow. Denise Gough, who recently won an Olivier for her performance in the show, told the Daily Mail: “I think New Yorkers would really go for it.”

Emma was having the time of her life. Now she’s in rehab. Her first step is to admit that she has a problem. But the problem isn’t with Emma, it’s with everything else. She needs to tell the truth. But she’s smart enough to know that there’s no such thing. When intoxication feels like the only way to survive the modern world, how can she ever sober up?

Directed by Jeremy Herrin, the cast also includes Jacob James Beswick, Nari Blair-Mangat, Alistair Cope, Jacqui Dubois, Charlotte Gascoyne, Sally George, Kevin McMonagle, Nathaniel Martello-White, Barbara Marten, David Rubin and Laura Woodward.

The production features sets by Bunny Christie, with costumes by Christina Cunningham, lighting by James Farncombe, sound by Tom Gibbons, video by Andrzej Goulding and music by Matthew Herbert.
