Saoirse Talks The Crucible
Saoirse Ronan is currently appearing in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and she stopped by LIVE with Kelly and Michael on April 15 to discuss the Broadway revival. "It's a very new take on the play," the Brooklyn Oscar nominee said about director Ivo van Hove's production. And what of her character, Abigail? "She's the worst," Ronan (half?!) joked. Check out the video below; The Crucible, also starring Ben Whishaw and Sophie Okonedo, is running at the Walter Kerr Theatre through July 17.
Cast Set for Michael Crawford's The Go-Between
Full casting has been announced for Tony winner Michael Crawford’s return to the West End in The Go-Between. Issy Van Randwyck has been tapped to appear as Mrs Maudsley, with Stuart Ward (Once) as Ted and Gemma Sutton (Gypsy) as Marian. The young Leo Colston will be played alternately by Luka Green, William Thompson and Johnny Evans Hutchison. Based on the classic novel by L. P. Hartley and adapted by David Wood, the new musical’s score is by Richard Taylor and will begin performances at the Apollo Theatre on May 27.
Judy Kuhn's Debut Record Drops Digitally
Four-time Tony nominee Judy Kuhn’s debut solo album, Just in Time: Judy Kuhn Sings Jule Styne, is now available digitally for the first time. The record, originally released in 1995 and featuring some of the most beloved songs from Styne, the composer of classic musicals like Gypsy and Funny Girl, features tracks including “I Don't Want to Walk Without You,” “Guess I'll Hang My Tears out to Dry” and “Everything's Coming up Roses.” Kuhn is currently on sabbatical from Fun Home while she receives hip surgery; she returns to Circle in the Square on May 24.
Viola Davis Preps Her Return to Fences
The upcoming film adaptation of August Wilson's Fences is that much closer to our screens! Headliner Viola Davis, who is reprising her Tony-winning role from the Broadway production, tweeted this picture of the script; she is set to star opposite her former Main Stem co-star Denzel Washington (who will also direct) in the project. According to Variety, Fences is scheduled to start shooting later this month in Pittsburgh.
