Here's a quick roundup of stories you may have missed today.
Vegas to Get Magic Mike Before Broadway
We're not entirely sure what this project means for the Broadway-aimed Magic Mike musical, but it is an excuse for us to write about Channing Tatum, which is never a bad thing. Looks like before the tuner from Tom Kitt, Brian Yorkey and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, which had a reading at the end of last year with Hamilton's Christopher Jackson and Jon Rua, sees the light of day, a "strip tease spectacular" will land in Vegas. In the below video, which includes shirtless men and puppies (of course it does), Tatum reveals that Magic Mike Live is heading to the Hard Rock in March 2017. Fingers crossed the musical is still in development!
Jessica Lange to Lead Ryan Murphy's Feud
2016 Tony nominee Jessica Lange, currently appearing in Broadway’s Long Day’s Journey Night for Ryan Murphy, will once again collaborate with the mega-producer on the small screen. She is set to star as Joan Crawford in his Feud, while Susan Sarandon will take on the role of Bette Davis. According to Deadline, the first season of the anthology will air on FX and consist of eight episodes, focusing on the actress’ rift during the filming of 1962’s What Ever Happened to Baby Jane. Executive produced by Brad Pitt, three-time Tony nominee Alfred Molina, Tony nominee Stanley Tucci, Judy Davis and Dominic Burgess have been tapped to costar.
Matthew Broderick to Team Up With Shirley MacLaine
Two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick and the legendary Shirley MacLaine have been enlisted to lead Bettyville, from Paramount Television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is an adaptation of George Hodgman's memoir by John Hoffman, and follows George (Broderick) after he departs the Big Apple to go home to Missouri to look after his aging mother Betty (MacLaine).
Joseph Leo Bwarie Mother's Day Gift
Jersey Boys favorite Joseph Leo Bwarie makes an appearance in the current movie Mother’s Day, headlined by Julia Roberts. Check out below as he sings a Sinatra-style big band version of the song "M-O-T-H-E-R," which accompanies the end credits. And speaking of which, have you remembered to send your mom a card...?!
