We've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know this classic tuner once more. The Tony-winning revival of The King and I will shutter on Broadway on June 26. At time of closing, the production will have played a total of 538 performances at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater. The show is currently led by Marin Mazzie and Daniel Dae Kim.
The King and I is set in 1860s Bangkok and tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam (Kim) and Anna Leonowens (Mazzie), a British schoolteacher, whom the imperious King brings to Siam to tutor his many wives and children. The musical’s score includes "Getting To Know You," "Hello Young Lovers," "Shall We Dance," "I Have Dreamed" and "Something Wonderful."
Directed by Bartlett Sher, the cast of The King and I additionally includes Ruthie Ann Miles, Ashley Park, Conrad Ricamora, Edward Baker-Duly and Jon Viktor Corpuz.
As previously announced, the production will launch a national tour in Providence, Rhode Island this November.
