How many West End stars can devour chocolate cake, ice cream, salami, cherry pie, and then some in one performance? The Very Hungry Caterpillar will go from page to stage in London this holiday season. The production, weaving together four of Eric Carle’s beloved children’s books, will begin performances at the Ambassadors Theatre on December 2. Opening night is set for December 3.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show features 75 puppets in a one-act play that brings to life the 1969 children’s book, plus The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, Mister Seahorse and The Very Lonely Firefly. The show, created and directed by Jonathan Rockefeller, premiered in Australia last year before opening at New York’s Acorn Theatre in January.
West End performances will run through January 8, 2017 before the staging embarks on a U.K. tour; casting will be announced at a later date.
