The 2015-16 Broadway season ended on May 22, marking yet another record-breaking year. Attendance was up by 1.6% and grosses were up by 0.6% from the 2014-15 season, bringing in a total of 13.32 million theatergoers and $1.37 billion. For the first year in recorded Broadway history, average ticket prices went down (by $1.07). In the final week of the season, the usual five blockbusters—The Lion King, Hamilton, Wicked, Aladdin and The Book of Mormon—held the top spots. Just shy of making the frontrunners was The Phantom of the Opera, which after 28 years, still manages to reach seven figures from time to time. Meanwhile, new musicals On Your Feet! and Waitress had energizing weeks, while Tuck Everlasting and Fiddler on the Roof might need a boost to keep going strong; buzz and appearances up through the Tonys would certainly help.
