Ralph Fiennes' Richard III to be Broadcast Live
There’s no need for discontent if you couldn't get to London’s Almeida Theatre this summer to see Ralph Fiennes as Richard III, starring opposite Vanessa Redgrave as Queen Margaret. The production, helmed by 2016 Tony nominee Rupert Goold (King Charles III, American Psycho), will be broadcast live to cinemas around the world on July 21, courtesy of Almeida Theatre Live. Richard III is scheduled to run at the prestigious venue June 7 through August 6.
Hang Out After Hours With Andrew Rannells
Want to get up close and personal with the adorable Andrew Rannells? The Broadway favorite, along with Rachel Bay Jones and James Lecesne, will appear at the next edition of Show Biz After Hours with Frank DiLella. The event is set to take place on June 6 at Birdland. Buy tickets here.
Brian d’Arcy James Ditches Donuts
We always preferred Schmackary's to donuts anyway. Brian d’Arcy James is no longer attached to CBS’ Superior Donuts. Based on Tracy Letts’ play, Deadline reports that the pilot will be reshot and that the Something Rotten! and Spotlight star won’t be continuing with the project. You’ve got until May 29 to catch James in his headlining turn in Rotten, so get yourself to Broadway’s St. James Theatre ASAP.
Casting Set for LuPone & Ebersole's War Paint
We’re keeping a close eye on this new musical from Doug Wright, Scott Frankel and Michael Korie—it has Broadway transfer written all over it. Complete casting has been announced for the previously reported War Paint, led by two-time Tony winners Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole as cosmetics titans Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden, respectively. They will be joined by John Dossett as Tommy Lewis, Douglas Sills as Harry Fleming, Mary Ernster, Leslie Donna Flesner, David Girolmo, Joanna Glushak, Chris Hoch, Mary Claire King, Steffanie Leigh, Erik Liberman, Barbara Marineau, Stephanie Jae Park and Angel Reda. Roberta Colindrez Set for I Love Dick Pilot
Fun Home favorite Roberta Colindrez has joined the cast of the Amazon comedy pilot I Love Dick. According to Deadline, she’ll play Devon, a butch cowboy and aspiring playwright in Marfa, Texas. The Jill Soloway project, written by Sarah Gubbins and based on the 1997 Chris Kraus novel, will also star Kevin Bacon and Kathryn Hahn.
