Take That, West End! Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s The Girls will bow in London. According to the Daily Mail, the new musical is set to begin performances in February 2017 at the Phoenix Theatre.
The tuner is based on Calendar Girls, a 2003 movie centering on an enterprising group of women who eschew traditional fundraising ideas like bake sales and decide to raise money for charity their own R-rated way. Firth original adapted it for the stage as a straight play and the production played a successful engagement at the West End’s Noel Coward Theatre in 2009.
Six-time Ivor Novello winner and Finding Neverland scribe Barlow is one of the U.K.’s most successful composers and as frontman of pop-group Take That has sold more than 50 million records worldwide.
