This is going to be eggcellent! Broadway fave Rob McClure begins performances in Something Rotten! as Nick Bottom on June 2. He steps in for Brian d'Arcy James, who received a Tony nomimation for the role and played his final performance in the tuner on May 29.
McClure was last seen in the Tony-nominated revival of Noises Off. In 2013, he nabbed a Tony nod for his title role in Chaplin. His other Main Stem credits include Honeymoon in Vegas, Avenue Q and I'm Not Rappaport.
Directed by Casey Nicholaw, Something Rotten! features a score by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell. Set in the 1590s, the show follows brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, who are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical.
McClure will join a cast that currently includes John Cariani, Tony winner Christian Borle, Heidi Blickenstaff, Brad Oscar, Kate Reinders, David Beach, Edward Hibbert, Gerry Vichi and André Ward.
