The Great White Way may be all about the ‘80s this summer, but this October, that blast from the past is heading off-Broadway. Falcon Crest star Lorenzo Lamas will join the cast of The Fantasticks from October 24 through November 6 at the Jerry Orbach Theater. He takes over from Shavey Brown in the role of the suave narrator, El Gallo.
Lorenzo earned a Golden Globe nomination in 1983 for his performance as Lance Cumson on Falcon Crest. His additional screen credits include Grease, The Bold and the Beautiful and Renegade. He previously played El Gallo at the Casa Mañana Theatre in Texas and has also appeared on the regional stage in The King and I, Dracula and A Chorus Line.
Directed by Tom Jones, The Fantasticks has a book and lyrics by Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt. A modern twist on Romeo and Juliet, the musical tells the story of a boy and girl who fall in love and then quickly grow apart when they realize they want to experience the world.
The current cast of The Fantasticks features Andrew Polec as The Boy, Madison Claire Parks as The Girl, Donald Corren as The Boy’s Father, Dale Hensley as The Girl’s Father, MacIntyre Dixon as The Old Actor, Michael Nostrand as The Man Who Dies and Drew Seigla as The Mute.
