Tony Nominees Ruth Wilson, Tom Edden & More Set for National Theatre's Upcoming Season

The rumors were true and two-time Olivier winner and Tony nominee Ruth Wilson (Constellations) is set to take on the title role in Hedda Gabler at the U.K.’s National Theatre. The new version by Patrick Marber will be directed by 2016 Tony winner Ivo van Hove (A View From The Bridge). Other highlights of the venue’s upcoming season include Tony nominee Tom Edden (One Man, Two Guvnors) joining the cast of Amadeus.

Hedda Gabler is set to begin previews on December 5 and officially open on December 12 at the Lyttelton Theatre. Just married. Bored already. Hedda longs to be free…The cast will also include Chukwudi Iwuji, Kate Duchêne, Éva Magyar, Sinead Matthews and Kyle Soller.

Love will play the Dorfman Theatre, starting previews on December 6, with opening night on December 13 and in repertoire until January 10. Alexander Zeldin is set to direct the show, a co-production with Birmingham Repertory Theatre that follows three families in cramped temporary accommodation in the run up to Christmas. The cast is set to include Emily Beacock, Darcey Brown, Anna Calder-Marshall, Luke Clarke, Grace Doherty, Janet Etuk, Nick Holder, Vitaly Outkine, Yonatan Pele’Roodner and Bobby Stallwood.

Elizabeth Debicki (The Night Manager and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) has joined the previously announced cast including Mark Strong and Hope Davis, of The Red Barn. The new play by David Hare, based on the novel, La Main, by Georges Simenon, will be directed by Robert Icke, and will now run until January 17.

Amadeus will now run until January 26. Along with Edden, the cast includes Sarah Amankwah, Hammed Animashaun, Geoffrey Beevers, Fleur de Bray, Karla Crome, Adam Gillen, Matthew Hargreaves, Andrew Macbean, Alexandra Mathie, Lucian Msamati, Eamonn Mulhall, Robyn Allegra Parton, Hugh Sachs, Eleanor Sutton, Wendy Dawn Thompson and Peter Willcock.

The cast of Bryony Kimming’s new musical A Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer will include Naana Agyei-Ampadu, Amy Booth-Steel, Jenny Fitzpatrick, Hal Fowler, Amanda Hadingue, Francesca Mills, Golda Rosheuvel, Max Runham, Rose Shalloo, Gareth Snook, Lottie Vallis and Gary Wood. The show will run in the Dorfman Theatre until November 29.

Directed by Sally Cookson, Peter Pan will now run until January 28 with further dates to be announced. Sophie Thompson will play Captain Hook/Mrs Darling) with Madeleine Worrall as Wendy.
