Bombshell Lives! Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields Crowned Miss America 2017 After Dancing to a Song from Smash

After just two seasons, Smash left us too soon, but fans of dueling Marilyns, prednisone-induced musical hallucinations and scarves can rest assured the NBC musical drama’s impact is more profound than ever. Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields was named Miss America 2017 on September 11, and for her talent portion, the University of Arkansas art student performed a jazz dance routine to Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman's power anthem “They Just Keep Moving the Line,” sung by Broadway favorite Megan Hilty.
