Talented twosome Kecia Lewis and Rebecca Naomi Jones may have the blues onstage in Atlantic Theater Company's Neil Pepe-helmed production of Marie and Rosetta, but they were all smiles on the red carpet at the play's off-Broadway opening on September 12. With musical orchestrations by The Color Purple music director Jason Michael Webb, Marie and Rosetta chronicles Sister Rosetta Tharpe's (Lewis) first rehearsal with a young protégée, Marie Knight (Jones), as they prepare to embark on a tour that would establish them as one of the great duet teams in musical history. The creative dream team includes Pepe, costume designer Dede M. Ayite, assistant director Steve Broadnax, playwright George Brant and Webb (see below). Take a look at our opening night hot shots, watch Lewis and Jones' blues jam sesh with Broadway.com and catch the show through October 2!
