Broadway alum Jeffry Denman will join the cast of Cagney this month. He assumes the role of Bob Hope and others beginning October 14, taking over for Jeremy Benton at off-Broadway’s Westside Theatre.
Denman last appeared on the New York stage in the off-Broadway revival of Passion. His additional credits include Yank!, White Christmas, Of Thee I Sing, The Producers, Cats and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Cagney follows the life of James Cagney (played by Robert Creighton, who also contributed original music with Christopher McGovern) from the streets of New York to his rise from a vaudeville song-and-dance man to one of the brightest stars of Hollywood. The score features classic George M. Cohan favorites: "Give My Regards To Broadway," "You’re A Grand Old Flag" and "Yankee Doodle Dandy."
In addition to Creighton and Denman, the cast of Cagney includes Danette Holden, Josh Walden, Ellen Zolezzi and Bruce Sabath. The production is directed by Bill Castellino and choreographed by Joshua Bergasses, and features a book by Peter Cooley.
