Lin-Manuel Miranda's SNL Ratings Hit 12-Year High
Ratings for the Lin-Manuel Miranda-hosted Saturday Night Live on October 8 are in and the episode reached a 12-year high for a second week telecast. With musical guest Twenty One Pilots and a little help from Donald Trump Alec Baldwin, the show averaged 7.14 million viewers. Deadline reports that it had a 2.11/10 share of the all–important 18-49 demographic, the most since Miley Cyrus headlined in October 2013. Lazarus Script Will Be Published
Missed Lazarus off-Broadway and unable to get to the London production this fall? Well, the script for the David Bowie tuner is heading to book stores everywhere, courtesy of Nick Hern Books! Lazarus: The Complete Book and Lyrics is slated for release on November 10 and will feature an introduction by script-writer Enda Walsh, along with photos of Bowie with the New York cast. Directed by 2016 Tony winner Ivo van Hove and headlined once again by Michael C. Hall, Lazarus will begin previews at the Kings Cross Theatre on October 25.
$30,000 Playwrights Award Announced
Penelope Skinner and Robert O'Hara are the U.K. and U.S. recipients, respectively, of this year’s Berwin Lee Playwrights Award. Created to foster and promote the craft of playwriting on both sides of the pond and to encourage the writing and production of plays, they will each receive a $30,000 cash prize.
Frances Ruffelle's On Her Own in New York
Before she headlines The Wild Party in London, Frances Ruffelle will bring her acclaimed solo show I Say Yeh-Yeh to New York for the first time. Featuring a brand new version of "On My Own," the show offers a comic insight to the Les Miz Tony winner's own true life story from heartbreak to empowerment. The concert is scheduled to play at Joe's Pub on November 7.
