The Broadway revival of The Cherry Orchard opens officially at the American Airlines Theatre on October 16. The Roundabout production, directed by Simon Godwin and starring Diane Lane in her return to Broadway (and to the Chekhov classic!), features a new adapted script by Tony winner Stephen Karam. To celebrate the play’s big night, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson created the sketch of the cast.
The portrait features (clockwise from top left) Harold Perrineau as Lopakhin, John Glover as Gaev, Joel Grey as Firs, Lane as Ranevskaya, Chuck Cooper as Simeonov-Pischik, Tavi Gevinson as Anya, Kyle Beltran as Trofimov, Maurice Jones as Yasha, Susannah Flood as Dunyasha, Quinn Mattfeld as Yepkhodov, Tina Benko as Charlotta Ivanovna and Celia Keenan-Bolger as Varya.
Broadway.com wishes the cast of The Chery Orchard a happy opening, and leave you with advice from your star: use the bathroom before taking the stage!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
