Happy Friday, and happy day before Keala Settle's birthday! We imagine you're celebrating the occasion just like we are (with a playlist that includes this and this). Let's take a moment to revisit the wackiest and wildest stories from the past week. The last seven days brought us a Kinky drag queen crushing on a step dancer, a Schuyler sister with bangs for days and more. Catch up on it all below with the Lessons of the Week!
Todrick Hall Had a Riverdance Romance
Everyone has their "Ring of Keys" moment. For some, it's the butch delivery woman. For others (not unlike this writer), it's Christopher Plummer singing "Edelweiss." And for Kinky Boots headliner Todrick Hall, it was a U.K. step dancer at Six Flags. That's one way to have a sexual awakening. Do you feel our hearts clogging hi, Todrick?
Dolly's Rocking a Sunday Pantsuit
This election season can't be over with soon enough, and frankly, we don't know why it's still going on because Dolly Levi has already weighed in. The revival of Hello, Dolly! tried placing an ad stating, "It Takes a Woman" (you know, like the song) in The New York Times just below a photo of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. She may be an expert meddler, but she's not exactly subtle. Have you seen that headdress?
Everything's Coming Up Adele (Eventually)
Mama's talkin' loud, Mama's doin' fine, Mama's saying hello from the other side. This week, pop superstar Adele revealed she wants to play Gypsy's iconic matriarch Mama Rose some day down the line. Get in line, Adele. So does Barbra Streisand. And, if we recall correctly, Zachary Quinto? Who'll do it first?! Our money's on Quinto.
Sia's Now a Schuyler Sister
The Hamilton Mixtape features a plethora of music icons, including a few all-star Angelicas. Sia will sing/rap about how she's never satisfied (except with cheap thrills), and Kelly Clarkson has left our hearts destroyed with "It's Quiet Uptown," beginning with Angelica's somber intro. The one thing that's been missing from Hamilton was chandelier swinging and crawling through the mud in a wedding dress.
Bobby Conte Thornton Wants to Have Fun
Adele is the new Mama Rose. Kelly Clarkson is the new Angelica/Alexander Hamilton. While pop stars are embracing musical theater, Broadway fresh face Bobby Conte Thornton wants to embrace his inner pop diva—at least at karaoke. The A Bronx Tale star shared his go-to song is "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." See you at Duet, Bobby. We'll be singing "Let Me Be Your Star." (PSA: They have "Let Me Be Your Star" at Duet.)
A Bronx Tale's Tech Week Is Extra Bright
What do you do when you need to kill time backstage during A Bronx Tale tech (and you can't leave to sing Cyndi Lauper at karaoke)? How about a good old-fashioned coloring contest? In her latest vlog episode, Ariana DeBose showcased some of her co-stars' adult coloring book entries. Impressive, ladies! Can we suggest using this coloring book next? Or do you not color to think?
Chelsie's Dancing with the Jersey Boys
Mark Ballas' Dancing with the Stars bestie Chelsie Hightower recently caught the new Jersey Boys star in action. The two have a history with the show, having seen it together six years ago. It's stuck with them, as Ballas is now Frankie on Broadway and Hightower still remembers the signature dance moves. Is it too late to have Chelsie play Frankie, too? Hey, if Kelly Clarkson can be Hamilton...
Bryce Pinkham Makes a Scary Baby
Halloween may be over, but that's not stopping Bryce Pinkham from continuing to haunt our dreams. The Holiday Inn favorite recently unleashed his alter ego "BabyMan," a cross-eyed, mildly demonic, Benjamin Button-esque infant. We reluctantly submit this shortlist of dream roles for BabyMan: Molly in Annie, Baby June on Adele's version of Gypsy, Regan in a musical adaptation of The Exorcist...
F. Murray Abraham Sorta Knows Britney
While on the red carpet for Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham misunderstood the classic Britney Spears tune "Hit Me Baby One More Time" as "Eat Me Baby One More Time" (it makes sense if you watch the clip). That sounds terrifying...which makes it a great choice for a certain creepy baby creature we know. Seriously, it's horrific, Pinkham. Not since Raven-Symoné.
Courtney Reed Is a Social Queen Bee
She may be a princess on stage, but offstage, she's a Social Media Queen. While walking us through a day in her life, Courtney Reed confessed to regularly advising her Aladdin co-star Adam Jacobs on his social media presence. You better listen to her, Adam. Her chokers left us gagging, but her Twitter has us #shook.
