The cast has been set for Classic Stage Company’s production of David Ives’ The Liar. The comedy, adapted from Pierre Corneille’s Le Menteur, will begin performances off-Broadway on January 11, 2017 and is scheduled to run through February 26. Michael Kahn will direct an ensemble of performers that includes Broadway alum Carson Elrod. Tickets are now on sale for the production.
In addition to Elrod (Peter and the Starcatcher) as Cliton, the cast will include Christian Conn (Desire Under the Elms) as Dorante, Aubrey Deeker (The Mentalist) as Philiste, Kelly Hutchinson (The Crucible) as Isabelle/Sabine, Adam LeFevre (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as Geronte, Ismenia Mendes (The Wayside Motor Inn) as Clarice, Amelia Pedlow (The Heir Apparent) as Lucrece and Tony Roach (Bright Star) as Alcippe.
Corneille’s 17th century farce follows the charming Dorante, who cannot tell the truth, and the manservant Clinton, who cannot tell a lie. The Liar marks the sixth collaboration between Ives and CSC.
The production will feature set design by Alexander Dodge, costumes by Murell Horton, lighting design by Mary Louise Geiger, sound design by Matt Stine and original music by Adam Wernick. Opening night is set for January 26.
