The Present marks the Broadway debut of its entire cast, including Academy Award winner (and wearer of amazing power suits—see above) Cate Blanchett. Playwright and screenwriter (and Blanchett's husband) Andrew Upton adapted Chekhov's Platonov for the production, which is set to begin performances on December 17 and officially open on January 8, 2017. Set post-Perestroika in the mid-1990s, The Present follows the widow Anna Petrovna (Blanchett) as she celebrates her birthday with a slew of guests; over the course of the party, unresolved relationships and regret quickly rise to the surface. John Crowley directs the drama, which also stars Australian actor Richard Roxburgh, Anna Bamford, Andrew Buchanan, David Downer, Eamon Farren, Martin Jacobs, Brandon McClelland, Jacqueline McKenzie, Marshall Napier, Susan Prior, Chris Ryan and Toby Schmitz. Broadway.com captured hot shots of the cast and creative team as they get ready to begin performances on the Great White Way. Take a look and be sure to see the play at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre!
