The ensemble has been cast for the Public Theater's upcoming free Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar. Oskar Eustis will direct Julius Caesar, running May 23-June 18 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.
Additional casting includes Isabel Arraiza (Publius Clitus), Erick Betancourt, Mayaa Boateng (Soothsayer), Motell Foster (Trebonius), Dash King, Tyler La Marr (Lucillius), Gideon McCarty, Nick Selting (Lucius/Strato), Alexander Shaw (Octavius’ Servant), Michael Thatcher (Cobbler), and Justin Walker White (Pindarus). Yusef Bulos will play Cinna the Poet, replacing the previously announced Stephen Adly Guirgis who had to depart the production due to writing conflicts.
As previously announced, Julius Caesar will also star 2017 Tony Award nominee John Douglas Thompson (Caius Cassius), Tina Benko (Calpurnia), Teagle F. Bougere (Casca), Eisa Davis (Decius Brutus), Robert Gilbert (Octavius), Gregg Henry (Caesar), Edward James Hyland (Lepidus/Popilius), Tony winner Nikki M. James (Portia), Christopher Livingston (Titinis/Cinna), Elizabeth Marvel (Antony), Chris Myers (Flavius/Messala/Ligarius), Corey Stoll (Marcus Brutus), and Natalie Woolams-Torres (Marullus).
Julius Caesar will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Jessica Paz and original music and soundscapes by Bray Poor.
The production of Julius Caesar will be followed by A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Lear deBessonet, running July 11-August 13. That production will star the previously announced Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford (Helena), Tony nominee De’Adre Aziza (Hippolyta), Kyle Beltran (Lysander), Tony nominee Danny Burstein (Nick Bottom), Tony nominee Shalita Grant (Hermia), Alex Hernandez (Demetrius), Jeff Hiller (Francis Flute), Robert Joy (Peter Quince), David Manis (Egeus/Fairy), Patrena Murray (Tom Snout), Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen (Puck) and Joe Tapper (Robin Starveling).
