This news is just loverly! Tony winner Laura Benanti is extending her engagement as Eliza Doolittle in Lincoln Center Theater's Tony-nominated revival of My Fair Lady. Originally announced to play the role through February 17, Benanti will now conclude her run in the acclaimed production at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on July 7. She joined the musical in her "dream role" on October 23, 2018.
Benanti is a Tony winner for Gypsy whose other main-stem credits include Tony-nominated turns in She Loves Me, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Swing! and Into the Woods. She has also been seen in Meteor Shower, The Wedding Singer, Nine, The Sound of Music and In the Next Room, or The Vibrator Play.
Benanti is joined onstage by Tony nominee Harry Hadden-Paton as Professor Henry Higgins, Tony winner Rosemary Harris as Mrs. Higgins, six-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein as Alfred P. Doolittle, Allan Corduner as Colonel Pickering, Linda Mugleston as Mrs. Pearce, Clarke Thorell as Professor Zoltan Karpathy and Christian Dante White as Freddy Eynsford-Hill.
Kerstin Anderson plays the role of Eliza Doolittle at all Tuesday evening performances. Michael Halling takes on the role of Henry Higgins on Wednesday evenings.
Tony winner Bartlett Sher directs and Tony winner Christopher Gattelli choreographs My Fair Lady, which began previews on March 15 and officially opened on April 19, 2018.
The production features music direction by Ted Sperling, with scenic design by Tony winner Michael Yeargan, costume design by Tony winner Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Tony winner Donald Holder and sound design by Tony nominee Marc Salzberg.
