Stephanie J. Block, the beloved star who picked up a 2019 Tony Award for her turn in The Cher Show, will co-star with Tony-winning legend Linda Lavin this spring in The Bedwetter, a new musical based on celebrated comic Sarah Silverman's bestselling memoir. The previously announced tuner, directed by Anne Kauffman, will make its world premiere at off-Broadway's Atlantic Theater Company for a run from April 25 through June 14.
In addition to her Tony-winning turn as the title pop star of The Cher Show, Block earned Tony nominations for Falsettos and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Her credits also include Broadway turns in Wicked, The Boys From Oz, 9 to 5, The Pirate Queen and Anything Goes.
Lavin is a stage-and-screen veteran who won a Tony for Broadway Bound and a Golden Globe Award for TV's Alice. Her Broadway résumé also includes Tony-nominated turns in Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Collected Stories and The Lyons.
Featuring a book co-written by Silverman with Joshua Harmon (Significant Other), music by Adam Schlesinger (Cry-Baby) and lyrics by Silverman and Schlesinger, The Bedwetter tells the story of a ten-year-old with a secret.
Joining Block and Lavin in the cast will be Sami Bray, Ashley Blanchet, Rick Crom, Zoe Glick, Darren Goldstein, Taylor Paige Henderson, Charlotte MacLeod, Ellyn Marie Marsh, Charlie Pollock and Emily Zimmerman.
Additional casting for The Bedwetter will be announced at a later date.
