A trio of new stars are headed to Arendelle. The Tony-nominated musical Frozen will welcome stage veteran Ciara Renée as Elsa, newcomer McKenzie Kurtz as Anna and recent Scotland, PA star Ryan McCartan as Hans beginning on February 18. They will replace Caissie Levy, Patti Murin and Joe Carroll, who will exit the production at the St. James Theatre on February 16.
Renée was most recently seen on stage in the off-Broadway musical The Wrong Man. Her credits also include Broadway turns in Big Fish and Pippin and an off-Broadway performance in Tick, Tick...BOOM!
Kurtz, a recent graduate of University of Michigan's School of Music, has been seen in regional productions of Footloose, Sweet Charity, Me and My Girl, Sister Act, Guys and Dolls, Pippin and The Little Mermaid.
In addition to his standout turn in Scotland, PA, McCartan has appeared on Broadway in Wicked and off-Broadway in Heathers: The Musical. He was also seen on-screen in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Based on Disney's Oscar-winning film, Frozen centers on two sisters who are pulled apart by a mysterious secret. As one of them, Elsa, struggles to find her voice and harness her powers within, the other, Anna, embarks on an epic adventure to bring her family together once and for all.
Frozen features a book by the film's screenwriter and co-director Jennifer Lee, a score by the movie's Oscar-winning music makers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and choreography by Tony winner Rob Ashford. Tony winner Michael Grandage is the show's director.
