Casting is complete for Noah Haidle's upcoming Broadway-debut play Birthday Candles. The previously announced production of Roundabout Theatre Company, directed by Obie winner Vivienne Benesch, will begin previews on April 2 and officially open on April 21 at the American Airlines Theatre.
Newly announced cast members include Emmy winner Andre Braugher as Matt, Enrico Colantoni as Kenneth, Crystal Finn as Joan/Alex/Beth, Susannah Flood as Alice/Madeline/Ernie and Christopher Livingston as Billy/John.
They will appear alongside the previously announced Emmy winner Debra Messing as Ernestine Ashworth.
Birthday Candles sees Messing as Ernestine Ashworth, who spends her 17th birthday agonizing over her insignificance in the universe. Soon enough, it's her 18th birthday and even sooner, her 41st, her 70th and her 101st. Birthday Candles questions what makes a lifetime into a life.
The production will feature scenic design by Christine Jones, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Jen Schriever, sound design by John Gromada and original music by Kate Hopgood.
Birthday Candles is scheduled to play a limited engagement through June 21.
