Complete casting is here for The Hot Wing King, a new comedy by Katori Hall set to make its world premiere with off-Broadway's Signature Theatre this winter. The recently extended production will begin previews on February 11, open on March 1 and continue through March 22 at the Pershing Square Signature Center.
The cast will include Korey Jackson as Dwayne, Toussaint Jeanlouis as Cordell, Cecil Blutcher as Everett, Sheldon Best as Isom, Eric B. Robinson Jr. as TJ and Nicco Annan as Big Charles.
Signature has also announced a "blackout night" on March 20 at 6:30pm, dedicated to black and African-American audience members in celebration of the play's world premiere.
The Hot Wing King is set during the annual Hot Wang Festival in Memphis, Tennessee, where Cordell Crutchfield (Jeanlouis) is marinating and firing up his frying pan in a bid to win yet again. When his beau Dwayne (Jackson) takes in his troubled nephew (Butcher), however, a first-place trophy isn't the only thing Cordell risks losing.
Steve H. Broadnax III will direct the production, which will feature scenic design by Michael Carnahan, costume design by Emilio Sosa, lighting design by Alan C. Edwards and sound design by Luqman Brown and Robert Kaplowitz.
