A talented pair of actresses have joined the cast of the upcoming reimagined movie musical remake of Cinderella. Maddie Baillio, known for Hairspray Live!, and Charlotte Spencer, a star of numerous TV series, will take on the roles of Cinderella's stepsisters in the previously announced film, according to Deadline.
Baillio's breakthrough role was as Tracy Turnblad in NBC's Hairspray Live!; she was recently seen in Netflix's Dolly Parton-themed film Dumplin'. Spencer is known for her small-screen work on Sanditon, Watership Down and The Living and the Dead.
Baillio and Spencer will appear alongside the previously announced two-time Grammy nominee Camila Cabello in the title role, with Tony winners Idina Menzel and Billy Porter as the evil stepmother and the fairy godmother, respectively.
The new modern-day Cinderella film grew out of an original idea by Tony winner James Corden, who is on board to produce. It will feature a script adapted by Emmy nominee Kay Cannon (Blockers), who will also direct. Details regarding plot and the music that will be included are being kept under wraps.
The film will arrive in cinemas on February 5, 2021.
