Olivier-winning theater mainstay Andy Nyman has landed the role of Horace Vandergelder in the highly anticipated London revival of Hello, Dolly! Dominic Cooke will direct the previously announced production, set to play a 30-week run at the Adelphi Theatre beginning on August 11. Opening night is set for August 27.
Most recently seen as Tevye in the West End revival of Fiddler on the Roof, Nyman earned a 2006 Olivier Award for writing and directing Derren Brown—Something Wicked This Way Comes. His London acting credits also include Assassins, Abigail's Party, Hangmen and Ghost Stories. Nyman recently appeared on-screen as Dan in the major motion picture Judy, based on Peter Quilter's play End of the Rainbow.
Nyman will appear in Hello, Dolly! alongside the previously announced Olivier winners Imelda Staunton as Dolly Gallagher Levi and Jenna Russell as Irene Molloy. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
This new production of Hello, Dolly! will feature choreography by Bill Deamer, music supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck and scenic/costume design by Rae Smith.
